Finally Government of Pakistan is Ready to Issue E-Passports.
Interior Minister announced that Passports and Immigration Office will begin issuing e-passports from March of next year.
A contract was signed between Government and French Private Companie.
The e-passports initiative was taken by the former Interior minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan. But for sime reasons it was delayed.Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said "e-passports will be issued to diplomats from march 2018 and from June 2018 it will be available for citizens".
E-Passports have an electronic chip which contains the data and information about the Passport Holder. Past years Pakistan Also successfully Introduced. e-ID card to the citizens.
